Harbor Point Views - Community Newsletter

Summertime-Fun Edition

Welcome to the first edition of the Harbor Point on the Bay quarterly blog! We are excited to launch this new platform as a way to keep our residents informed and connected with community updates, announcements, events, and more. As we transition from spring to summer, we have several exciting things to share with you. From pool opening dates to fitness classes, and updates on parking passes, we have it all covered in this edition. So, sit back, relax, and read on to learn more about what's happening at Harbor Point on the Bay.

  • POOL SEASON: The large pool opens Memorial Day Weekend. This is a reminder that any resident wishing to use the pool will need to bring a photo ID to the fitness center to obtain a wristband for access to the pool.

Minor occupants must be accompanied by an adult resident. A household may have up to two guests per visit to the pool. The cost is $10.00, payable at the time of the visit. Anyone entering the pool (over the age of 2) must wear a wristband at all times. Anyone without a wristband may be asked to leave the pool. Learn more here.

PARKING STICKERS: All vehicles at Harbor Point must have a resident sticker, daily parking pass, or an overnight pass. Any vehicle without a pass or sticker may be towed at the owner's risk and expense. Please ensure all guests are aware of the different types of passes so that they obtain the correct one for their vehicle. If you are a resident and have a temporary rental or borrowed vehicle, please contact the Management Office.

The resident parking stickers will change in August 2023. To obtain a new sticker, you will need to return the old sticker and submit your license and vehicle registration. If the vehicle is leased, you will also need to bring the vehicle lease. We will send out additional information during the summer regarding this process. To request a parking sticker, please fill out this form.

  • LANDSCAPING: Please be advised that our landscaping company is on-site every Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM throughout the summer. Please be mindful of this and keep your apartment windows closed, especially if you are in a first-floor unit, as dust may enter this way.

SWIMMING POOLS: The large pool is opening Memorial Day weekend. The large pool is open seven days a week from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM beginning June 17, 2023. Until then, the large pool is open holidays and weekends only. The small pool opens on June 17, 2023, and is open Wednesday through Sunday from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Please note that the Dorchester Boys and Girls Club uses the large pool as part of their program several times a week. During this time, access to the large pool and splash pad is only permitted by those individuals in the program. The restricted times will be noted on the bulletin board outside the pool.

HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING: The heat will be shut off as of May 31st. We will be working to have the air conditioning on as soon after 5/31 as possible. Please remember, window AC units are not permitted for any reason as they may pose a safety hazard. Only townhouse units will be able to choose between heat and AC. The heat will be back on as of September 15th.

Lithium-Ion Battery Safety Tips

Lithium-ion batteries power many types of devices, but they can be dangerous if not used correctly or if damaged. Follow these tips to help keep yourself and your devices safe:

  • Purchase and use devices that are listed by a qualified testing laboratory.

  • Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and use the battery designed for the device.

  • Put batteries in the device the right way and only use the charging cord that came with the device.

  • Do not charge a device under your pillow, on your bed, or on a couch, and do not keep charging the device or device battery after it is fully charged.

  • Keep batteries at room temperature when possible. Do not charge them at temperatures below 32°F (0°C) or above 105°F (40°C).

  • Store batteries away from anything that can catch fire and stop using the battery if you notice any problems such as an odor, change in color, too much heat, change in shape, leaking, or odd noises. If it is safe to do so, move the device away from anything that can catch fire and call 911.

  • When disposing of lithium-ion batteries, do not put them in the trash or in piles. Recycling is always the best option, so take them to a battery recycling location or contact your community for disposal instructions.

For more information on lithium-ion battery safety, please see the NFPA's educational resources at nfpa.org/education.
